Vintage Brut Rosé
Wine
Chandon Vintage Brut Rosé is predominantly sourced from the winery's cool climate, high altitude estate vineyards at Strathbogie and the Whitlands Plateau in Victoria.
This wine is made in the time honoured méthode traditionnelle, or traditional French method of producing sparkling wine. It is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a small amount Pinot Meunier.
The fruit from each site is fermented separately to ensure their unique characteristics are retained. Pressing occurs in the vineyard, minimizing harsh phenolics and protecting the fruit's delicate aromas.
After primary fermentation and maturation, individual parcels are selected based on their varietal flavours, structure and length. They are then blended and bottled.
A small amount of yeast and sugar, or liqueur de tirage, is added. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a naturally sparkling wine. It matures on lees for 36 months in bottle – an essential part of the méthode traditionnelle.
Prior to release, a small percentage of red Pinot Noir base wine, sourced from the winery's home vineyard in the Yarra Valley, is added to give the wine its blush pink colour.
Pale pink, Chandon Vintage Brut Rosé has red berry and ripe stone fruit flavours with a background of fine acidity and a long, textural finish. Drink within two years of release.
